How to List Your First Item
A short guide to sharing with your neighbors
Listing on VillageConnect Local is simple: open the app (or use VillageConnect Local in your browser), go to Explore, tap the + button (top of the screen), and you'll see "What would you like to do?" with options such as Quick List, Give Away (free), Request an Item, and Borrow for an Event. Some app versions also show a dedicated Post tab with the same menu. To list an item, choose Quick List or the full list flow, add a photo and a few details, pick a category (tools, gear, party supplies, etc.), set a description, and you're live. Neighbors nearby can find your item and send a request.
A few tips: use a clear photo, mention condition and any rules (e.g. "pick up only"), and keep your radius reasonable so handoffs are easy. The more your listing feels real and specific, the more likely the right borrower will find it.
Once someone requests, you'll chat in the app to agree on timing and handoff. After the return, you can leave a review. That reputation helps the whole neighborhood trust each other—and makes the next borrow or lend even smoother.
